Darren West, 28, was sentenced to 60 months in prison for sexually assaulting at least two women and robbing one of them during a string of incidents reported earlier this year.

According to prosecutors, in March, West approached one victim while she was at work and propositioned her for oral sex, which she declined.

Once he was rebuffed, West grabbed her inappropriately, they said.

On June 8, West approached another person, asking her how she was doing before grabbing her from behind. When he was pushed away, he threatened her with physical harm.

Federal officials say that just days later, on June 11, West entered his second victims' home through an unlocked back door and cornered one of the women in her bedroom.

When she called to her roommate for help, West was confronted and pepper sprayed before fleeing and stealing an iPhone as he left through the same door he came in.

West pleaded guilty in September in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia to one count of second-degree burglary and two counts of misdemeanor sexual abuse.

In addition to his prison term, West was also ordered to serve three years of supervised release.
